Opening minds to educate and protect our children from childhood sexual abuse.

Envision a world where children are safe and happy, where each breath counts, and the innocence of childhood endures until adulthood. When this is our reality, the world will provide personal freedom to all children.

Our Mission

Mindfully Aware is a non-profit organization working to empower communities throughout Union County NJ to prevent child sexual abuse.

No child should suffer in silence.

Our community can and should protect our children. By engaging in conversation around a difficult yet critical topic, we know that prevention is possible — and with prevention comes a life of safety, happiness, and growth for our children and for generations to come.

Welcome.

This short intro video will help you understand our organization, mission, and goals.

Excessive SHAME is the Strongest Emotional Indicator of Abuse.

SHAME

Take note when kids and/or adults share feelings of shame or disgust — or seem silenced. The following videos will help with identifying and recognizing shame.

Our Work

Our training division provides guidance to New Jersey Schools and PTA’s K-12, allied professionals in public and mental health, prevention practitioners, and the larger public.

Educating students through in-school assemblies and small classroom discussions.

We are unsilencing children — empowering children to use their voices to be heard by adults.

Assisting New Jersey schools in creating trauma-informed care throughout their districts.

Our Goals

By increasing students’ awareness and knowledge base we will help prevent sexual abuse.

We aim to reduce the number of child sexual abuse cases in the Union County New Jersey area.

Decrease mental health issues in schools and other institutions by educating and implementing trauma-informed care.

Teaching children the life skill of recognizing personal boundaries — what is appropriate and inappropriate for them.
